Why is the eMedia Catalog background black?

Why is the eMedia catalog showing a black background? It's impossible to read!

If you're suddenly seeing a black background on your eMedia catalog, it's probably because you're using Internet Explorer 9. This happened when Overdrive upgraded their catalog this last time.

Overdrive is working on fixing that, but they don't know if or when they'll have it fixed.

Until then, you have three options.

The best option would be to upgrade your web browser to Internet Explorer 10. That will resolve the problem entirely. (Don't upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 - they're still working out the bugs in that, and there are a LOT of bugs!)

and select "Download Internet Explorer 10". Just follow the directions, and it will be fine! IE10 is stable and I haven't had any problems with it at all. (Don't let them talk you in to IE11 - yet.)

The second possible solution is to try a different web browser entirely. I like both
Safari (select Safari X.X.X for Windows)

I use either of these if I'm having problems with Internet Explorer.

If you don't want to upgrade to IE10, or try a different browser, there's a way to be able to SEE your eMedia stuff, until Overdrive fixes the problem. It's irritating, but it works.

Log in to your eMedia account. On the right side of the page, look for "Bookshelf - Holds - Lists - Settings". Click on SETTINGS.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page. You should almost be able to see "High Contrast - Standard - High".

Click on "High", and wait just a moment.

The text color will change, and you'll be able to read everything.
It's not the best solution, but it works, if you really don't want to change your browser.
