OverDrive App for BlackBerry Enables eBook Download

With the release of OverDrive Media Console for Blackberry v2.1, Blackberry owners now can download EPUB eBooks from the library's digital collection directly to their mobile device. Similar to OverDrive's applications for Android and iPhone/iPad, this app includes a "Get Books" feature allowing users to find LVCCLD from within the app. Users can then browse the mobile version of our eMedia Catalog, check out an EPUB eBook or MP3 audiobook with their library card, and download the title directly to their BlackBerry device.

OverDrive Media Console for Blackberry can be downloaded for free from OverDrive's software page and the MobiHand Superstore. It can be installed on BlackBerry touch-screen devices running BlackBerry OS v4.7 or newer and non-touch-screen devices running BlackBerry OS v4.5 or newer. This makes the device compatible with 96 percent of all Blackberry devices. In the coming weeks, OverDrive Media Console is expected to be available in BlackBerry App World as well.

In addition to the Blackberry release, OverDrive Media Console for iPhone and Android also received a few updates. These updates incorporate new features such as a sleep timer, sepia display option, and improved performance for Android, as well as orientation lock for eBooks, night mode and sepia display option, and screen lock override for iPhone/iPad. Windows Phone 7 users can also look forward to the release of OverDrive Media Console for that platform with similar functionality in the near future.
