Book For September: Esperanza Rising

To celebrate Hispanic American Heritage Month, we'll be reading the Young Adult novel, Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan. This is an especially interesting novel because it talks both about Esperanza's life in Mexico, and then about her very changed life in Southern California, after her family had to flee Mexico. It's an amazing book set during the Depression, and gives a wonderful bird's-eye view of the hardships that all workers faced during that difficult economic time.

This is a page-turner that will keep you involved to the very end. It's based on the life of the author's grandmother. I know you'll enjoy this one! Request your copy now, and start reading!
