You've read every book in all your favorite authors' series. You've bugged the librarians for all the "read alikes" they can think of, so they hide under the desk when they see you coming. You've read every book your friends have ever recommended. All you want is some new titles to read. What can you do?
Your library, to the rescue!
The Library District has two amazing resources that will send you tempting titles by email. The titles might not all be up your alley, but they may be a place to start!
First, try Dear Reader. Dear Reader is an online "book club" that sends you just a bit (about a five minute read) of beginning of the book. They send bits of one book each day for a week, so at the end of the week you've read the first couple of chapters. If you like it so far, you can get it from the library.
Here's where to find Dear Reader. Go to the Books Movies and More! page on the library website, then click on "Resources for Readers", there to the left of the book cover. Scroll down the next page, under "Websites", and you'll find Dear Reader! (Notice all the other great resources for readers we have there, too!)
When you get to Dear Reader, pick your genre: Fiction, Nonfiction, Teen, Business, Romance, Good News, Science Fiction, Mystery, Thriller, Audio, Pre-publication, or Classics, enter your email address, and you'll start getting just enough of a book each morning to whet your appetite.
The other great "I need a good book" resource is BookPage Daily. Each morning, we'll send over information about an interesting book. You can't choose a genre, but over time you'll see a huge variety of titles. Read the description and if you like it, click the "Request It" button!
Here's how to sign up:
Go to the Bookletters Signup page, and scroll waaaaay down (about 3/4 of the way down the page) to BookPage Daily. Click in the box, then scroll to the bottom of the page, type in your email address, and click "Subscribe"! That's it.
Never say we didn't find titles for you to try!
