I've been thinking
What a fine world it would be
If they all would change the rule
Ten months leisure,
two for school."
(dredged from my memory - and apparently not the original lyrics to the song!)
Inevitably, summer vacation is over. The school supplies are piled up in the stores. You're getting new school clothes, to replace the ones you grew out of over the summer. Summer, that seemed so endless, ends.
And you're sad, but there's always that anticipation about going back to school, seeing friends who aren't your neighbors, getting new teachers, and all the holidays to anticipate.
If you were a child, would you really have wanted "ten months leisure?" Or did the school year just make summer vacation all that much sweeter?
