Tuesday Trivia

Richard Lederer, in Literary Trivia, takes a side trip from specific books, to visit the realm of the gods. Let's all think back to ninth grade history class, and remember the Greek and Roman gods..... (And you thought there wouldn't be a quiz after you graduated! You can find some help here or here.)

The Romans couldn't bring themselves to use the Greek names for the gods, so they chose their own names. Can you match up the Roman name with the Greek name, and for extra credit, say what the god's "job" was?

Greek .......................Roman ....................Job/Realm
Aphrodite ................Ceres .......................Agriculture
Ares ..........................Cupid ......................Fire & the forge
Artemis ....................Diana .......................Hearth & home
Bacchus/Dionysus .....Dis ........................King of gods & men
