Folly - Laurie R. King information

Laurie R. King lives in northern California. That's where she was born, and that's where she eventually settled down. Both of her college degrees are related to the study of religion. That explains a lot about several of her (wonderful) books. She was born in the early 1950s, which puts her age in the middle-ish 50s. (If you want to get more specific, please check her biography in Biography Resource Center, in the library's Databases A-Z list! I won't reveal secrets here!)

She's had books published since the early 1990s. And, like most of my favorite authors, cannot seem to write fast enough to keep up with my demand for her books.

The last time I saw Ms. King in Las Vegas was when Keeping Watch was published, in March 2003. She returned to Las Vegas later that year for the Las Vegas Bouchercon. (That's a link to a Convention Report from an attendee. Bouchercon is the annual World Mystery Convention, and it attracts great mystery writers like flies! This year's Bouchercon is in Baltimore, starting this Thursday They have a blog. Next year's Bouchercon will be in Indianapolis.)

Laurie R. King has several active series:

The Kate Martinelli Series
A Grave Talent
To Play the Fool
With Child
Night Work
The Art of Detection

The Mary Russell Series
Beekeeper's Apprentice
A Monstrous Regiment of Women
A Letter of Mary
The Moor
O Jerusalem
Justice Hall
The Game
Locked Rooms
(And coming soon, The Language of Bees! The last post says she sent the book to her editor. It's scheduled for April 2009.)

The Folly series (only two books, and only peripherally related!)
Keeping Watch

and a couple of stand alones:
A Darker Place

Calafia's Daughters (under the pseudonym Leigh Richards)
